Bunny Trail Drive-Thru Event: Meet Peter Cottontail THIS Friday from 10 a.m.-Noon – FREE!

We “hop” you will join us this Friday, April 10 from 10 a.m.-Noon to meet Peter Cottontail. You will drive-thru the VMCC Parking Lot, 8055 Barbara Avenue, and safely get a pic with Peter Cottontail. We will provide a map soon on our website to reference how to navigate the drive-thru.

Please bring along non-perishable items to donate to Neighbors, Inc. food shelf. And if you made a tie dye t-shirt with our "Community Spirit Event" - make sure to wear it when you drive thru to see Peter Cottontail!

Outdoor Activity: IGH Nature Scavenger Hunt - All week!

Participate in this activity all week long by taking pictures of our Scavenger Hunt items while out visiting an IGH park trail, or in your own backyard.

Create a collage of your photos and share it on the Parks & Rec Facebook page

(If you’re visiting a park, be sure to do it safely!)

Motivation Monday - Guided Meditation: "A Wish to be Well is part of being Well"

During this time when our activities are restricted to stop the spread of a COVID-19, it is helpful to have a positive outlook for your mind, body and spirit. Meditation can help!

5 Reasons to Meditate daily:

  1. Meditation melts away stress, erases worry and puts your mind at ease.
  2. Meditation shows you a mirror of yourself for improved sense of wellbeing.
  3. Meditation will elevate your spirit. Happiness is contagious.
  4. Meditation can be done anywhere, anytime and requires only you. If its noisy, put in your ear buds.
  5. Meditation makes you conscious of your surroundings, you will eat slower and you might prevent mistakes or accidents.


April 1 2020 Coloring Contest Instructions

Spring Coloring Contest

Although we can’t hold the annual egg hunts this year, that’s not stopping us from celebrating spring by hosting a festive coloring contest. 1st place prizes will be awarded in each of the four categories:

  • Ages 0-Grade 1 and Grade 2-4 will submit the official happy spring coloring sheet. Download coloring sheet and instructions here.
  • Grades 5-8 and Grades 9+ will submit a self-made colored drawing depicting their personal vision of spring. Download drawing sheet and instructions here.

Submit your sheets to Chelsea at or mail them to the Parks and Recreation Office (Inver Grove Heights Parks and Recreation, 8055 Barbara Ave, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077). Entries are due by Sunday, April 12. 

Try our Virtual Weight Loss Challenge 

Accept the challenge to maintain or lose weight during a time when social distancing, working from home and sheltering in place are the norm. Register here by Monday, April 6 (Code FP-P151). Take a picture of your feet on a scale with your weight in pounds and email it to Amy at also by Monday, April 6. Work hard to maintain your weight. Watch for motivational tips from our Parks and Recreation staff on Mondays and, on Wednesdays, look for "We’re All in this Together" activities for all ages to keep you sane on Wednesdays!
